sleep, feet

sleep, feet

Monday. Another day off work. Twenty-four hours without caffeine. I am not sure if it’s the lack of caffeine or if I am feeling a little discouraged about everything, but my spirits are not the best.

I slept late both days this weekend and did no riding at all. I haven’t slept that much in years and it makes me feel a bit lazy. Let’s just write off last weekend as a recovery weekend.

I am not trying to be healthy with the caffeine thing, I have a stress test today in Topeka. They are going to take a look at my heart before and after exercise to see if there’s anything going on with the heart muscle itself that we should know about. Hopefully this will all turn out OK. I plan on getting my heart rate up there and turn this baby into a workout.

While I am up there I need to get all my tests and info forwarded to another doctor in Wichita for a second opinion and to see if I am a candidate for the DaVinci Robotic MVR. In this method, they use robotic arms, much like laparoscopic surgery, but it’s controlled by a doctor indirectly much like a video game. The good thing about this is that I wouldn’t have to have my chest cracked open and I would be able to get on the trainer pretty quickly compared to enduring full-0n open heart surgery.

The other thing that is very important is that I really need to know if the Stagecoach 400 is OK to do or not. Some of you may think I am crazy for even thinking about it, but I need to know if it’s bad enough to keep me from this kind of activity. People live everyday with mitral valve regurgitation, so I may be OK to do a little 400 mile ride before the surgery, we will see. I just got the route forwarded to me last weekend. It is going to be epic for sure. Check it out here.
